TRying to paint rocks 🙂 W.I.P. moving in a direction of deep contrasts- trying for three values on each rock
I went to my home town this past weekend to attend a celebration of life. It was a beautiful day on the lake at Brewster Academy. We were entertained by a person trying to sail. The wind kept tipping them over and they kept righting the boat and trying to harness the wide. This I realize today is a good analogy for my painting this summer. I keep getting back to the brush even though I have not had much “success” this summer. In watercolor class this week we were instructed to bring paintings we wanted to finish and we all had many. We talked about where to take them and worked on that. As you can see I tweaked a bunch but have not yet finished. I have a couple of weeks to focus on my painting before helping set the show at The Newport Library Arts Center. I also have been working on raw material for the plywood people. On the media this week is a book called The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern I am a bit more than half way so the jury is still out but so far it is a pretty fun read about a bizarre circus.
Until Next Week- Peace- Bec
W.I.P. Same scene as with bold colors- we also did this is class
W.I.P. tinkering with the values…
W.I.P.- I did a little work on this one. Now I have to figure out how to deal with the background…or maybe abandon ship??!!!
W.I.P.- this one is coming along..so much fun! Trying to decide if she is to be a floating head …or what!
W.I.P. flowers in my yard- I am kind of stuck on how to bring out a focus
W.I.P.- so here I painted over whites I should have left in the flowers…so I will need to get really dark here if this is to meet my “standards” 😉
W.I.P.-This is a bit larger- practicing some techniques
W.I.P- adding layer of increasingly more intense color
W.I.P. starting to pull out some details- this has been a really fun painting to create
W.I.P – adding details…
here I have worked the back ground a bit and put a glaze on the fore ground- I really dislike this color scheme…but will work on this some more to see what I can learn!
W.I.P. – I needed to find the book that I used to draw this crow to see where to go next. I knew it would involve cobolt blue…
